Although a baby’s skin is much less oily than adult’s, it does experience hormonal surge during birth time; and since pigment production is still low, babies can be prone to acne breakouts as well. That is why it is very important that you learn how to take care of your baby’s skin. here are some tips on how you can keep your baby’s skin super.

Make sure you always protect your baby from sunlight exposure, as melanin production in babies is low, and therefore they are more vulnerable to sunburn. During the first few months, keep your newborn out of direct sunlight. If you take your baby outside, make sure you cover your baby with sun protective clothing. If you are taking your baby out, use a shade source such as an umbrella.

You should not use sunscreen lotions until your baby is six months old as they can be too harsh for your baby’s skin, but after they are older, a sunscreen lotion could be helpful to protect them from direct sunlight.

Always Keep your baby warm– Wind and cold can also cause dry skin on your baby, so when your baby is outside make sure that you cover him with warm clothing, but do not over do it so that you don’t suffocate your baby

Never ever use adult’s skin care products for your baby as they can be too strong for your baby’s skin. Sometimes the normal detergents you use for laundry can irritate your baby’s skin, if that is the case, you need to switch to those detergents that are formulated specifically for a baby’s laundry.

Always change your baby’s diapers as soon as it is wet or soiled. Urine and feces contain bacteria that can lead to infections and diaper rash, and must be washed away with warm water or baby wipes. Make sure you use those baby wipes that don’t contain alcohol for this can dry out your baby’s skin. Clean gently but thoroughly especially the folds of the legs, crotch area and buttocks before putting on another diaper.

Diaper rash is very uncomfortable so use products that contain zinc oxide ointment (such Vaseline) to protect your baby’s skin from moisture. These products are formulated especially for this common baby skin problem.

Do not bathe your baby too many times in a day as it can sap your baby’s skin of moisture. Always use warm water (not hot) for bathing your baby. If your baby has cradle cap which resembles scaly dirty-looking skin, use a soft brush to scrub the top of head gently. If cradle cap doesn’t go away, have a baby’s physician take a look. If the air in your home is dry, consider getting a humidifier to add moisture.

Do not over clothe your baby. The baby’s skin pores are much smaller than adult’s and hence it is harder for the sweat to be released from the body; this can lead to pores clog and heat rash. Heat rash could also develop due to hot temperature and snug fitting clothing. Be sure to dress your baby in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that’s appropriate for the temperature.

You should give special attention to your baby’s diet. Add bright colored fruits that contain beta carotene, which helps maintain the health of the skin. Also if possible, feed her cod liver oil which is rich in many vitamins, especially Vitamin E. In addition, here are some home remedies that you can try.

Give your baby lots of water. The more water you baby drinks, the more toxins will be flushed out. The body will also remain well hydrated. I hope that you have finally learned how to best take care of your baby’s skin through this lesson, don’t forget to leave a comment or a question and i will be glad to respond to you.
